It's Not What It Seems

In the book: Trilogy; "I'll Be There in I, two, 3"

It's Not What It Seems

It's not what it seems

Not everything is real.
The minute hand lives in a rush
while you neglect
a pleasurable present.
Routine,
the lack of a pause to discern.
That is the setting
of a bitten fruit
that the tyrant devours in hiding.
You give thanks for publicity and prizes
but you flee like a mouse in the rafters of a shed,
you don't even remember what you're looking for
you run, you climb down, you climb up
you don't even stop to think whether it's superficial.
The mediocre inflames the vocal cords
and the tendons twist shyly,
the ambiguity between "being and seeming"
lives tending to difficult scalpel wounds.
You get sidetracked by a simple plum.
Living on appearances
connects you to borrowed glimmers,

you are a laugh without witnesses
made of masks that do not breathe.
You sink slowly
into the icy caress of the void.
