What she felt
I Free My Inner River represents the moment in which that which had remained contained at last finds a channel. The river becomes a metaphor for one's own life: the inner voices swim, advance and undermine the riverbed, stirring that which lay motionless in order to awaken the spirit.
The composition is organized through great curving and diagonal movements that suggest opposing currents and forces converging. The blues evoke water and that inner world which begins to flow; the yellows and golds introduce the presence of the sun and of light; while reds, greens and earth tones express the intensity of an emotional landscape in full transformation.
The horizontal lines crossing the central area may be read as the bridge and the limits that momentarily compress the passage of the water. The river, however, does not stop. It narrows, passes through the obstacle and continues. The limit thus ceases to be an ending and becomes a passage.
The gestural force of the brushstrokes expresses that inner movement which no longer fears being struck by its own flowing. Sky, earth, water, air and light all take part in a single journey, accompanying the passage from the known toward that which is still to be discovered.
The work thus distills an essential idea: between the sky and the earth lie my possibilities. To free the inner river means to trust one's own movement, to pass through whatever tries to contain it and to go on, even without fully knowing the destination.
I Free My Inner River speaks of crossing with confidence, because even when the channel narrows, the water knows how to continue: on the other side, the light is waiting.
